Cricut Cardz Challenge #75

The challenge for this week for Cricut Cardz is to make a masculine card with wheels. Well it just so happens my grandson will be turning 3 on Monday and I needed to make him a birthday card. He loves watching monster trucks so I decided to make this card for him and enter it in the challenge for this week. I used a holographic wrapping paper for the window and chrome parts so it is very shiny.
Happy 3rd Birthday Cody! We love you!

Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog!

Card for a very special friend

As the school year ends, I am so happy to have summer break right around the corner but it is also very bittersweet. If you read the posts below I mentioned that several of my close friends from work are leaving, either due to a new job or retiring. Well I have one more to add to the list. Our Kindergarten teacher who is one of my very closest friends will be moving away. She is the most positive person I know and always has a smile on her face. She is a wonderful teacher (hence why she was just chosen as Master Teacher of the Year). I just can't even imagine what it will be like next year without her. Her room is close to the office and when she has a little one in trouble or needs some assistance she always intercoms the office and announces that "she could use a friend". Through the tears the past week we have joked about her calling me from several hours away when she gets moved to tell me  "she could use a friend". Over the past few years I have been trying to convince her to come and make cards and scrapbook with our group and she finally decided she was ready. Her youngest son moved away to college and her husband travels alot for work like my husband so we were going to start crafting together. And then what happens-- their house sells and now she will be moving away. :-(  She will be missed so much--not only as an awesome Kindergarten teacher but as a fantastic friend!!
So here is the card I made for her to go with a picture frame I gave her that says- "The best things in life...... are not things." Love that saying!

This is a gift I made for my granddaughter's teacher to show our appreciation for a great year. She is one of those teachers that you can tell loves her job and loves her students. She is wonderful!!
I love making these little boxes filled with scrap paper and matching pen.
Will be making more in the future for sure!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Wishing You the Best-Teacher gifts

One of the certified tutors in our school was just hired for her first teaching job. Unfortunately it is in another school in a nearby town so I wanted to make her some little teacher goodies to have as she starts her new teaching career. She is a sweet young lady and since her family all lives several hours away, I have kind of been her "Mom on call". I will really miss her and wish her the best!!

I even made her a matching gift bag to put all of the goodies in that I made for her. She loved it all!!

Wedding Card

A wedding card I made for a special couple. The bride was actually the daughter of our school nurse. She was a beautiful bride and the wedding was so pretty. This card was inspired by several cards I found online and I just took parts from the different cards and created my own. The paper behind the hearts is a shimmering sliver paper but doesn't show the shimmer in the picture. A really fun card to make!

Special card for a special teacher

This card was made for a very special teacher at the school where I work. Our Kindergarten teacher was chosen as the Master Teacher of the Year and she is so deserving of this award. She is so awesome!! We were lucky enough to have her be our granddaughter's Kindergarten teacher last year.
It's hard to tell in the picture but the background paper is a shimmer dark blue. Looks very elegant!

Birthday Card and Matching Box for a special friend

I made this card and matching box for a very dear friend at work for her birthday. Inside the box was a bracelet I made for her. There is a funny story about her and I. Six years ago she worked at another building than where I worked and she would call me each morning with her breakfast and lunch count for that building. We never met all that year but talked on the phone each morning. The next year I moved to another building so I no longer talked to her each day. Two years ago she was moved to the school  where I work. The first day when they introduced her to me I kept thinking that I knew her from somewhere but couldn't figure out where. All day long that day I kept trying to remember how I knew her and why she was so familiar to me. The next day it came to me why her voice was so familiar...she was the lady I had talked to every morning four years earlier!!! We were once again together and became best of friends. We even knew what the other one was thinking...which could be a bad thing sometimes!!! :-) We have had the best time working together these past two years. But she is retiring now and so I will no longer have her there with me each day to make me laugh and brighten my day. I will miss her so much!!! Love ya Connie-- enjoy your retirement, take care and keep in touch!!

Secretary's Day Thank You cards

Wow I can't believe it has been over a month since I posted on my blog. Shows how busy the past few weeks have been!!! The school year finished up last week so hopefully now things will slow down and I will have more time to create!
Here is one of the thank you cards I made for all the great gifts I received for Secretary's Day. They were too good to me. I received all kinds of goodies...gift cards to Hobby Lobby and Sonic as well as a manicure gift certificate, picture frames, flowers, cards and some really cool notebooks. And I even got to go out to lunch which might not be a big deal for some people but for me that is huge because every other day during the school year I eat at my desk while I am working. So that is a big treat to be able to get away from the phone, sick kiddos, visitors to the school and all the other things that occur during my day. It was a great day!!! I made these cards using a package of premade cards I picked up on the dollar spot at Target. Just added a strip of cardstock with the edges punched with a border punch,  a scalloped circle with a thank you sentiment and a punched flower in the center and they were done. Love having these premade cards on hand because they come in so handy when you need a card really quick and you can customize them for the occasion.
